Nissan Turns to Facebook Fans for 370Z Custom Build

There are a lot of ways to customize your car these days. Aftermarket accessories are one way to go – things like wheels, spoilers, body kits, chrome accents and inlays, and so much more. Another option is performance parts – like turbochargers, aftermarket air intakes, exhaust systems, just to name a few. No matter what your style is, there’s a way to make your car reflect who you are.

When Nissan decided create a custom 370Z monster to be unveiled at the annual ZDayz event, which takes place May 17-20 near Robbinsville, NC, they chose to let their Facebook fans take part in the build.

The video below shows mechanics disassembling the project 370Z in preparation to add the fan-selected modifications, which include a GReddy twin turbo kit, GReddy Ti-C catback exhaust system, Stoptech big brake kit, and KW variant 3 suspension system. When all is said and done, the 370Z should produce approximately 500 horsepower.

Nissan Announces Limited Production of JUKE-R Supercar

Nissan has announced they will be producing a limited number of the Juke-R concept supercar, which made its first appearance earlier this year in Dubai.

The Nissan Juke-R concept received loads of attention following a January video release which showcased the unlikely supercar’s incredible performance in a multi-lap supercar challenge. The Juke-R quickly proved it was much more than your every-day Juke crossover, as it terrorized the streets of Dubai, embarrassing some stiff supercar competition, like Lamborghini and Ferrari, in the process.

The possibility of actually owning one of these Juke-R supercars was thought to be wishful thinking, at best, but that’s all about to change. Nissan Marketing Product Manager, Gareth Dunsmore recently said, “With such a strong reaction, and with three genuine offers on the table, we decided we had to make the car a reality.” He went on to say, “The Juke-R has become something of a phenomenon, and I’m enormously proud of the impact it has had.”

Nissan Juke-R’s will be built-to-order and will deliver an unthinkable 545 horsepower, even more than the original concept. Nissan expects to be taking orders within the next four weeks.

2013 Nissan Sentra Teaser Clip Released

Nissan recently unveiled the all-new Nissan Sylphy at the Beijing Motor Show in China. And although this particular model will not be available in the US, Nissan has announced that the Sylphy will serve as the basis for its North American counterpart – the 2013 Nissan Sentra.

Following the unveiling of the all-new Sylphy, Nissan released this teaser clip for the 2013 Nissan Sentra, shown in its SR trim.

Details surrounding the redesigned Sentra remain unclear, but it is believed that it will share many characteristics with the Nissan Sylphy, which is equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine accompanied by Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CTV).

Earlier this year, Nissan announced that it would be introducing five all-new products to the United States over the next 15 months. Having already unveiled the 2013 Altima, Nissan Senior Vice President, Brian Carolin, has explained that the all-new 2013 Nissan Sentra will be the third of the five new models being launched – appearing in showrooms this fall following the all-new Altima and Pathfinder.

New Film Series Ready to Showcase Nissan DeltaWing

Last year was all about the Nissan Juke-R super crossover. 2012 is all about Nissan’s new racing vehicle, the DeltaWing. Nissan will be having a brand new film series around the construction of the next-generation racing vehicle.

The new film series will have a new episode around every two weeks leading up to the Le Mans in June. A complete TV documentary will follow the Le Mans race. A film crew has followed DeltaWing designer Ben Bowlby and his team as the racing machine was built including the engine being developed.

Ben Bowlby said, “We’ve had the Nissan film crew following our every move throughout the development of the car over the past few months and this will give the fans a great insight into the creation of the Nissan DeltaWing. It was a bit strange at first to have a camera poked under our nose all the time but, after a while, the guys really felt like part of the team.

Engineers take the DeltaWing into the wind tunnel for one of the most crucial tests to determine the DeltaWing’s potential.

IIHS Awards 2012 Nissan Versa Sedan with Top Safety Pick Rating

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety proudly awarded the 2012 Nissan Versa Sedan with their Top Safety Pick rating. The Versa sedan earned its first Top Safety Pick rating, coming the same year as a complete overhaul of the vehicle.

The IIHS Top Safety Pick rating was given to the Versa sedan for earning the highest rating of “Good” on all four tests performed by the IIHS. The four tests include front, side, rear and rollover crash test. The new roof strength test was added to testing for 2012 to see measure how vehicles performed in the incident of a rollover crash. The higher requirements have made the IIHS rating even more valuable to a model.

The major award is a great addition to the Versa name which has the lowest MSRP in America. Nissan engineers overhauled the 2012 Versa sedan to optimize space and features with the lowest bottom line for customers. The vehicle is a great affordable option for drivers looking for the ultimate value in a car.

The Versa is the fourth Nissan model to earn the major award. The Nissan cube, JUKE, & LEAF also won the 2012 Top Safety Pick awards.

Nissan’s Vision of Safety & Future Driving

Nissan is feverishly working towards creating a world in which there would be no accidents.  Such a world would allow everyone to enjoy driving more and have less stress.  Even though that future is far away, Nissan’s safety advancements show they are committed to creating the best safety technology.

For the past twenty five years, Nissan has analyzed and worked at developing technology and vehicles that would withstand crashes better.  The passive approach focused on better material selection, vehicle design, and use of airbags to mitigate damage in crashes.

Now Nissan is looking towards preventative technology to help avoid collisions all together.  With the Nissan Safety Shield, Nissan has taken major steps in creating new technology to assist drivers in avoiding accidents.
